Karl Marx once wrote that, "Philosophers have only interpreted the world differently; the point is, however, to change it."
Karl Marx was no Christian, but he captures an essential part of what the church should be about. Most of us are only concerned about our own personal world and making it the best personal world possible. So, we work hard to provide for our families, study hard so we can prepare for success, and care for those around us...our friends, family, and maybe even neighbors.
But there have been (and still are) some who think beyond the borders of our own personal worlds. They have been burdened to make the world a better place for all of us and not just their own personal circle of relationships. We respect and honor many of these people, whose faith and sacrifice has made our broader world a better place...Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, etc.
And, finally, there was one person who revolutionized the world...who did what no man or woman had ever done or would ever do again. His name is Jesus.
The Message of Jesus
The message of Jesus is that our lives are incomplete without God. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus restores a relationship with God that has been broken by our own shortcomings and sin. And, for those of us who believe, we have been grafted into God's family and will spend our Present and our eternal Future with God. Yet that blessing comes with a corresponding responsibility.
God has given us His redeemed...His followers...His adopted children...Christians, a mission and purpose. To bear God's image. In the same way ambassadors represent nations and children represent their families, so also God has called Christians to live as Jesus lived and to share His life-giving Message to the world. People will choose on their own whether or not to believe God's story. God doesn't remove our free will. But, God's people must live and share God so the world might have the opportunity to choose.
At Awaken, we have committed ourselves to being a church that does more than talk about faith, but live it! And our passion is to impact the one group in our country who has become most disillusioned with the church. Our young people...
We hope you choose to get to know us better. We hope you are also one who wants to do more than talk about faith, but live it as well...in very real and vibrant ways. If so, then we would love to have you visit with us and maybe even join us.
We meet on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. Check out our Direction page for more information on how to find us!
We look forward to seeing you there!! God bless...
